Maryland General Assembly (Annapolis, MD)
CTSI was tasked with the renovation of Maryland’s Senate and House of Delegate sub-committee rooms, meeting rooms and joint hearing room at the state capital in Annapolis, MD. This included upgrading the existing analog infrastructure with a new fully digital infrastructure. The installation required a combination of in-room category cabling and fiber optic infrastructure cabling to connect all rooms to a central Media Center located on the first floor. The mandate for government transparency was a driving factor for the functional design of these systems. All hearing room events are streamed to the internet and simultaneously recorded for on demand viewing by the public. A conference microphone system is used for vocal transmission while cameras automatically pan to the senator or delegate whose microphone goes live after being recognized by the chairman. Custom camera shots were developed utilizing video window processing to present witnesses and questioning members side by side while both microphones are active. Computer based web conferencing was integrated to provide a cost-effective solution for out-of-state witness participation.
